Ellsworth Brown with Tony Tracy.

Ellsworth Brown, Ruth and Hartley Barker Director of the Wisconsin Historical Society, presents a certificate of appreciation to Tony Tracy, Executive Director and Kathy Laasko, Arts Director of the Douglas County Historical Society.

A Toast to Our Hosts

The Douglas County Historical Society was a wonderful host who made us feel at home and brought out a community of people who were engaged with our wonderful history of Wisconsin. We held programming that spanned the Lake Superior fur trade to contemporary deer hunting culture.

Senator Janet Bewley, Senate District 25 joined us and said a few words during our certificate presentation to our hosts, and Representative Nick Milroy, Assembly District 23, joined us for that event as well as "From Red Plaid to Blaze Orange." Rep. Milroy offered insight on a discussion on allowing blaze pink to be worn while hunting, a bill that he co-wrote with Rep. Joel Kleefisch.

On Thursday night we saw Superior's creativity come out with beer bottle labels created during History Happy Hour at Who’s Bar on the well-known Tower Avenue.

We had a wonderful week, made good friends, and felt incredibly welcome in Superior.

Thanks Superior! You really do live up to your name!
